My art journal time

I can't tell you how much I love my time spent art journaling. I love the feeling of leaving all of my heart, thoughts and emotions recorded in beautiful colors in my journal. I could be having the worst day ever and somehow the colors and feel of the paint soothes me and begins to transform my mood. My art journal takes me into a safe refuge of my own little island , a place to create and unwind from all life's worries.
Art-ing in my journal just makes me happy. I started in high school ( I won't tell you how long ago that was) as a way of passing time. But it was just markers, pens and doodles then. It wasn't a thing like it has become in the last few years. I'm so glad it's evolved into the beautiful art form it is today.
I've always loved drawing people ( and Charlie Brown characters) ... Which has also evolved over the years.
I started a new journal for 2016... The word I've chose for this year is...LIVE... And this is my first page in my new journal.

  I used
Prismacolor pencils for this and a  Strathmore mixed media journal.
This is my goal for 2016... No more just existing .... Its time to begin to live.
To design a life I love. A life I cannot wait to get up in the mornings to start.
A life that will be beautifully illustrated in my art journal. ( not every page will be beautifully done, but I'm remaining positive here)
I hope you will join me as I take this journey . if you haven't started Art journaling yet, now is a great time to start .

Sweet Sherry

Hello my lovelies. I hope all is well in your crafty world. Today is my day to show you my new creation for Sunsational Stamps... I would like you to meet Sherry #311..,
You can get sherry here...

 http://www.sunsationalstamps.com/category_62/14/Girls.htm

Sherry is adorning a criss cross card.

I used copic markers and prisms pencils to color Sherry. Although I'm beginner to copics, I love the way Sherry turned out.

This card is 6x6. The inside pull out is 5 1/2 inches...
This card is so easy to make but can be so impressive.
I took 2 pieces of 6x6 paper. I cut one piece diagonally from corner to corner... So now you have 1 6x6 square and 2 triangle shapes. Now position the diagonal pieces on the square so they Cris cross. Only glue sides and bottom. You need the top open to place your sentiment card.
Now decorate... I used laces, handmade roses, ribbon, string pearls and stickles.
All die cuts were made with paper punches.
Now that you've completed the all the lovely decorations, slide your 5 1/2 inch sentiment card in the top and your ready to make someone's day with this card.

Isn't Sherry adorable ! She's absolutely one of my favorites. You are going to love working with her !!
Here's the link one more time... http://www.sunsationalstamps.com/category_62/14/Girls.htm

Home of the brave

Hey y'all . I hope your having good week so far... We've made to Wednesday... We're half way through this week. Yay!! ...
Have you noticed all the July 4th decorations out so far...how could you miss them , right?  Every store seems decked out in our beautiful red, white and blue. Its really put my heart in the patriotic spirit.
So I wanted to do a project that reflected that. So  I chose to use a stamp from c thru the woods...

 https://m.facebook.com/CThrutheWoods
. I truly love this stamp.  It reminds me so much of my brother. Who served in the army for years. He was proud of his time in the service and we are proud of his service in the military.
So I love this stamp !!!
this stamp is designed to be used for any branch of service. So if you want to show support for another branch of the armed services , this stamp is designed so you can use it for other branches... Isn't that cool ?  I love that it can be used that way.

So on to my project....
This is an 8X10 canvas.
Items needed for this project....
*Mark stamp ... Available at c thru the woods... Which can be purchased here...

 http://cthruthewoodsclearstamps.tictail.com/

*One 8x10 canvas
*Gel medium or mod podge
*Copic markers, prisma colored pencils
*Decorative scrapbook paper
*Green card stock
*Stickers or embelishments
*memento black ink
*distressing ink

The first thing I did was cover the entire canvas with gel medium. Then I placed the scrapbook paper on the canvas while it was still wet.
I set that aside. While it was drying a stamp one image on green card stock and one image on white card stock.
I colored the hair and face of the image on the white card stock , then cut it out.
I then glued it into place on the image that had been stamped on the green card stock.
After cutting the image out , I adhered it to the canvas , again using gel medium.
Once that was dry. I went over the entire front of canvas with gel medium.
I distress the edges with distressing ink, added embellishments.
The project was done.

I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.
I hope you like it as well. If you have any questions about process or products, just leave them in the comment section.
Thank you for spending a little of your Wednesday with me... I hope the rest of your day is awesome... Don't forget to hit that follow button before ya go...
Thanks and happy creating !!
